Model based engineering methods became standard tools of the modern chemical and process engineering in the last two decades. This ranges from model based process understanding and analysis to optimizing design, including linear and nonlinear model predictive control. Model based chemical engineering is inherently a multidisciplinary field: beyond the chemical and pharmaceutical engineering it involves mathemarics, numerical methods, computer programming and high level instrumentation as well. Therefore, people with diverse scientific background and interest are involved into this reseach.
We are focusing but not limiting to pharmaceutical applications, accounting for both the upstream (drug substance manufacturing) and downstream (drug product manufacturing, a.k.a. formulation) processes. The research is carried out within the framework of several national and international research projects and various industrial collaborations in the broad field of model based pharmaceutical and chemical systems engineering.
